Dave deBronkart: Meet e-Patient Dave

Dave de Bronkart is on a mission to inspire patients to play a more active role in their own healthcare.
In Dave’s 16-minute talk on Ted.com (Ted Turner’s website that features “Ideas Worth Spreading”), he tells how patients can be important advocates in their own treatment and recovery. Dave believes that patients are just as likely to find solutions as their professional health care teams. Consider that doctors and hospitals may not acknowledge certain treatments either because they don’t know the treatments exist, or because they choose not to offer them for any number of reasons. Dave recommends that people look into patient advocate networks to get a more complete picture of what options are actually available.
